Looking
at Patriotic Music
When
you think about traditional patriotic music, the songs of George M. Cohan may
immediately come to mind. Those rousing numbers that became the toast of
Broadway in the early part of the 20th century can only be eclipsed by Irving
Berlin’s “God Bless America” which he wrote while in the Army in 1918.
But
